Bosnian Children Holidaying in Slovenia
As has become tradition, a group of children from Bosnia-Herzegovina are spending their summer holidays on the Slovenian coast this year with the help of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The humanitarian project is being carried out with the cooperation of the Slovenian youth holiday resort of Debeli Rtic, which is hosting 45 children from Bosnian-Herzegovina and 10 Slovenian children from families who could otherwise not afford a holiday.
For the third consecutive year, the Foreign Ministry has helped finance the project with a donation of EUR 10,000.
Paying a visit to the children on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel was treated to a short performance, while he brought with him presents for the participants.
In his address to the children, Rupel noted that he was pleased to greet them and added that this was a great opportunity for them to experience Europe without borders even before Bosnia becomes a member of the EU.
He believes that the project is a great investment for the future and that they will remember the holidays, friends and towns they have come across during their stay for many years to come.
The Foreign Ministry will soon carry out another similar project, which will bring children from Ukraine to Slovenia.
