Nearly 24,000 students were enrolled in music and dance classes in the 2007/2008 school year, which is slightly more than last year, according to the National Statistics Office.
Almost half of the students took classes in piano, guitar or violin. Accordion and flute were also popular.
The statistics show that 95.4% of students finished classes successfully, with 2,814 students finishing their music education completely, 2,086 at the lower and 728 at the higher level.
At the end of 2006/2007 school year 58 music school were registered, employing 1,853 music teachers.
