Deputy Parliament Speaker Saso Pece received on Friday a Japanese parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy Speaker Takahiro Yokomichi. The pair stressed that the cooperation between the countries was good, especially at the parliamentary level, and expressed hope the visit would strengthen tourism ties between the countries.
Yokomichi commended Slovenia's stint at the helm of the EU, especially for its work on the Kosovo issue and the Irish "No" to the Lisbon Treaty in last month's referendum.
The pair also compared electoral systems of their countries, and touched on topical election issues in Slovenia, including the inflation, social policies and the country's relation towards its history.
Yokomichi, in turn, focused on burning issues in Japan, such as the gap between the rich and the poor and the employment of young people.
