Sounds of Slovenia to Present Slovenian Folk Songs in Brussels
A concert entitled "Sounds of Slovenia" will be held in Brussels on Tuesday to mark the Year of Intercultural Dialogue and the conclusion of Slovenia's EU presidency. A group of 24 acclaimed musicians from various Slovenian bands is to present the tradition of Slovenian folks songs in contemporary arrangements.
"I am expecting a true spectacle because such music has not yet been presented. This is Slovenian ethno played in a very modern way in which different styles - rock'n'roll, jazz and improvisation - take their turn," the head of the Slovenian tourist board in Brussels, Rok Klancnik, said ahead of the event.
The 24 musicians to participate at the concert include true multi-instrumentalists and this is really the best possible selection of musicians, he added.
The concert is organised by the Government Communication Office and the Slovenian tourist board. The invitation for the event says that "Slovenian folk songs are remnants of the ancient times, an echo of space, conveying the variety of Slovenian regions".
The concert starts at the Ancienne Belgique concert hall at 8 PM, is free of charge, but the number of tickets is limited.
