Kozmus Wins Prague Meet
Slovenian hammer thrower Primoz Kozmus won the Josef Odlodil Memorial in Prague on Monday, a crucial win considering that he was up against the best competitors in this event in the world.
Kozmus threw the hammer 79.60 metres, edging Slovak athlete Libor Charfreitag (79.25) and Italian Marco Lingua (79.22). Hungarian Krisztian Pars, who holds the season best, was fourth with 77.55 metres.
This is the fourth season win for the best Slovenian male track athlete, the silver medalist from the last World Championships. He managed the first three with throws over 80 metres.
It is also taste of things to come at the Beijing Olympics in less than two months. "I believe that a throw around my personal best, 82 metres, will suffice for a medal in Beijing," he said.
