Druga Godba Music Festival Kicks Off

Ljubljana, 20 May

The 24th Druga godba festival of world music will start in Ljubljana on Tuesday with a concert by vocal band Lo Cor de la Plana from Marseille, which is performing traditional music in the Occitan language of southern France. The traditional festival will feature different genres - from blues rock, reggae, post punk flamenco to hip hop.

The eight-day event will host internationally acclaimed musicians like reggae artist Tiken Jah Fakoly from Cote d'Ivoire and Vieux Farka Toure, a famed rock guitarist from Mali, as well as the British post punk band Gang of Four and Grammy-winning ensemble Ojos de Brujo Sound System from Barcelona
The festival will close with concerts by Slovenian rock-folk group Katalena and Senegalese afro-pop Orchestra Baobab on 28 May, while the French electro gypsy swing Caravan Palace is to give the audience an aftertaste of the festival on 14 July, French National Day.
