Isakovic Getting Better and Better

Vienna, 28 April

Slovenia's Sara Isakovic broke national records in the 200 and 400 m freestyle events at an international swim meet in Vienna at weekend, raising expectations ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Isakovic set a new Slovenian record in Friday's 200-metre freestyle event with a time of 1:56.93. This is 0.52 seconds better than her gold-winning effort a month ago at the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven.
The performance is also the fourth best time of the season, prompting Isakovic to say after the race that she hoped she could go under the 1:56 mark in Beijing.
Two days later Isakovic swam the 400 metres even in a time of 4:08.10, improving the national mark, set during a silver medal performance at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Spain's Almeria, by 4.15 seconds, to confirm her strong form.
