Ljubljana, 21 April

Austrian Minister for Education, Arts and Culture Claudia Schmied paid a visit to Slovenia on Monday, discussing with her hosts, Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti and Education Minister Milan Zver, topical issues in the light of bilateral and regional cooperation and Slovenia's EU presidency.

Simoniti and Schmied exchanged information on the activities of both countries related to the year of intercultural dialogue (2008), with the Slovenian side also presenting its EU presidency priorities in the field of culture.
Also on the agenda was the realisation of individual projects envisaged in the second working programme on cooperation in culture, education and science between the Slovenian and Austrian government for the 2008 period and future cooperation, the Culture Ministry said in a press release.
Zver meanwhile acquainted Schmied with Slovenia's EU presidency priorities in education and the activities held as part of the presidency in this field. The issue of minorities was also on the agenda of the talks, the Education Ministry said.
