Slovenia's registered unemployment rate edged 0.1 percentage points higher to 7.4% in January, which brings it back to the level recorded in October 2007, the Statistical Office said on Tuesday.
In the first month of 2008, 69,238 persons were registered as unemployed, which is 13.4% less than in January 2007.
The number of unemployed men increased by 2.1% and the number of unemployed women was up by 0.4% compared to December. The rate now stands at 6.2% for men and 8.9% for women.
The number of persons in employment was 867,342, up 0.3% over the month before.
The number of employed men decreased by 0.2%, whereas the number of employed women was up by 1%.
