Finland, Slovenia Pen Letter of Intent on Defence Cooperation

Ljubljana, 22 February

Slovenian Defence Minister Karl Erjavec and his Finnish counterpart Jyri Hakamies signed on Friday a letter of intent on cooperation in defence, which Hakamies labelled as a good basis for future cooperation in defence industry.

"We are already cooperating intensively, including in the development of capabilities", Erjavec said, noting that the Slovenian army had purchased over 100 eight-wheeled armoured personnel carriers from Finnish defence company Patria.
Slovenia as well as Finland are both small countries, and it is important that we can benefit from this cooperation, said Hakamies, adding that the Patria delivery was a good example of cooperation.
The letter of intent was signed on the margins of an informal EU defence ministerial at Brdo pri Kranju.
