NLB Group Increases Pre-Tax Profit by 27%
Ljubljana, 14 February
The group around Slovenia's largest bank, NLB, posted a pre-tax profit of EUR 184.9m for 2007, up 20% year-on-year. Total assets increased by 27% to EUR 18.3bn, the bank said on Thursday.
The core Ljubljana-based bank saw pre-tax profit rising by 42% to EUR 143m and total assets increasing by nearly 26% to EUR 13.1bn.
All indicators improved last year despite the adverse situation on international markets, the bank said in a press release.
The bank expanded across all segments. "The excellent results are also of ongoing streamlining, as operating expenses increased by only 3%," said supervisory board chairman Igor Marinšek.
The NLB group comprises 63 banks and other financial companies in 16 countries, predominantly in Southeast Europe.
