Sempeter pri Gorici, 18 January

Iskra Avtoelektrika Group, the Nova Gorica-based maker of electrical components for the car industry, posted sales revenues of EUR 239m in 2007, a hefty 20% increase over the year before. Net profit amounted to EUR 4.1m, the company said at a press conference on Friday.

"Last year was successful. We could have realised even more orders, but our supply sources have been giving us some trouble although we put a lot of effort in them," said Iskra Avtoelektrika boss Ales Nemec. He stressed the company's share had climbed from EUR 42.8 to around EUR 53 in the past year.
Iskra Avtoelektrika Group is a global supplier of car industry components, with 2,700 employees in 15 subsidiaries worldwide. Its products are being sold in over 60 countries, most notably in Germany, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Nemec also said that one of the group's targets was reaching sales revenues of EUR 400m by 2011, which means a 66% growth. "We plan to invest around EUR 13m a year to reach these targets, and employ a further 600 people by 2011," Nemec said, adding that half of these people would be employed by the subsidiaries.
