Construction Company Signs EUR 20m Deal with Belgrade Utility

Belgrade/Ajdovscina, 16 January

Construction company Primorje from Ajdovscina signed on Wednesday a EUR 19.9m contract with a Belgrade utility on the overhaul of its water purification system aimed at doubling the current supply of potable water to the Serbian capital.

According to a release from Primorje, Belgrade gets water from the Sava river, which is purified in a facility located approximately eight kilometres west of Belgrade. The current capacity of the system is 2 cubic centimetres per second, and Primorje plans to double it.
In order to install modern water purification equipment and to increase the capacity, Primorje will have to rebuild the whole complex and thoroughly reconstruct some of the existing facilities.
The 30 different facilities to be reconstructed cover more than 10,000 square metres, including a 22,000 cubic metre reservoir, the release says.
The investment is co-funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Agency for Reconstruction, and the city of Belgrade.
