Slovenia joined the Schengen area of free circulation a minute past midnight on 21 December, along with Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Celebrations on many Slovenian border crossings marked the significant event, attended by High Slovenian Officials. The biggest Schengen expansion to date, it created a 24-country area stretching over 3.6m sq. kilometres in which EU citizens will be able to travel without passports.
In this edition we also write about the working meeting between the Slovenian Government and the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament.
