The European Commission approved on Monday to the financing of 18 programmes for promotion of EU agricultural products in the third countries. Slovenia received EUR 846,253 for the promotion of poultry, a project initiated by the Association for Meat and Meat Products.
The rest of the funds will be invested in projects from Italy, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, France, Portugal, Poland, Greece and Cyprus. The promotion will be aimed at USA, Russia and China and will cover various agricultural products such as wine, fruit, meat, milk products, olive oil and eco products.
The European Commission will fund up to 50% of individual projects, which makes the total sum of EUR 19.6m. Italy will receive most financial support (EUR 2m) for a project promoting fruit and vegetables.
Countries can annually apply for financial support by 30 June. In the next three-year period EU funds will cover half of the expenses for the project of Association for Meat and Meat Products, the total amount being EUR 1.692.505.
