Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant announced in Brussels on Thursday that Slovenia would cut the administrative burden by 25% with a programme that the government is expected to adopt next week.
Virant was speaking to the press after a session of the Competitiveness Council at which member states were briefed on progress in implementing the "Better Regulation" programme.
He said most government which had already set their national objectives opted for a 25% cut in administrative burdens.
According to him, "Better Regulation" has already achieved the objective of cutting costs for companies, but more can still be done, in particular in improving the quality of EU regulations.
Virant explained that merely excluding small companies with under 50 employees from the act on the protection of personal data would result in savings to the tune of EUR 38m.
Virant added that Slovenia had already adopted measures to remove administrative barriers in labour legislation.
It has also introduced a one-stop-shop for sole proprietors, taken measures in public procurement and simplified the granting of permits for foreign workers.
