The Surveying and Mapping Authority has launched a real estate market database that will enable public access to real estate deals in Slovenia. The registry will include details of real estate transactions provided by the Tax Administration, notaries, real estate agencies and local administrations.
The database will contain information on the contract value of properties, the date of deals involving properties in Slovenia and the age and location of properties.
The online database will have two levels of access: for the public administration and professionals, and for the general public, the director of the Surveying and Mapping Authority, Ales Seliskar, told the press in Ljubljana on Wednesday.
Professionals who will find the database useful include appraisers, investors and real estate agents. The general public will meanwhile have access to the database of real estate deals and market statistics.
The report on trends in the Slovenia real estate market for this year will be prepared in the first quarter of 2008. Currently users have access to real estate statistics for 2005 and 2006.
Seliskar said the database "was one in a series of steps to building multi-purpose registries that will increase transparency on the real estate market, provide for fair taxation of properties and optimal planning of housing construction".
Along with this database, the Surveying and Mapping Authority plans to launch a registry of public utility infrastructure and a registry of real estate. The latter will be based on the ongoing property census.
