Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia Valentin Inzko signed in Ljubljana on Friday a new agreement on mutual representation, adding ten new locations to the list of embassies and consulates which represent both countries in visa issuance, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Slovenia will now represent Austria via its joint visa application centre in the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica, while Austria will represent Slovenia in Algeria, Shanghai (China), Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Los Angeles and Venezuela.
The joint visa application centre in Podgorica, which opened on 5 October, receives and sends applications for Austrian visas to the Austrian Embassy in Ljubljana. After the expansion of the Schengen zone on 21 December, the centre will fully represent Austria in visa procedures.
Austrian embassies and consulates in the mentioned countries already make decisions on issuing Slovenian visas. After 21 December, they will issue visas for the Schengen zone on the behalf of Slovenia.
