Ljubljana, 15 November

The government on Thursday confirmed the final estimation of the damages caused by the torrential rain and floods on 18 September and got acquainted with the country's application for assistance from the European Solidarity Fund, the cabinet's spokesman Valentin Hajdinjak told the press.

The damage caused by the heavy rain in 56 municipalities around the country amounts to a total of EUR 186.4m, or EUR 223.7m with the value added tax. The damage on cultural heritage sites alone stands at EUR 3.4m, while companies suffered a damage of EUR 33.7m.
The deadline for handing in the application for the funds from the European Solidarity Fund, which was drafted by the government's Office for Local Government and Regional Policy, is 27 November.
Every EU country can apply for the funds providing that the damage exceeds a certain threshold, which stands at EUR 164.272m for Slovenia.
