The government appointed Olympian Miroslav Cerar a Slovenian ambassador of sports, tolerance and fair play at its session on Thursday. Professor of sports Stanislav Pinter and former Slovenian tennis player Mima Jausovec were made his deputies.
The 68-year-old Cerar is a Slovenian gymnast who competed for the former Yugoslavia in the 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics, winning golds on the pommel horse both times and taking the bronze medal on the horizontal bar in 1964.
Cerar, who has won more than 30 medals in major competitions, was accepted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1999.
