Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia Valentin Inzko presented in Ljubljana on Thursday a project entitled Weeks of Cross-Border Cooperation, which is to take place between 4 and 15 November on various locations in Slovenia and Austria.
The goal of the events initiated by Inzko is to present the cultural diversity in the areas near the Slovenian-Austrian border and to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The events, emphasising the connection between culture and science, will be organised by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Ljubljana, the Austrian Science and Research Liaison Offices in Ljubljana and the Klagenfurt-based Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Cooperation.
The opening event, taking place on 4 November, will start in the Austrian village of Laafeld in the vicinity of the Austrian-Slovenian border and will later continue in the nearby Slovenian village of Cankova. Two round tables about the role of the minorities in cross-border cooperation will be held in Ljubljana as part of the project. The first, scheduled for 6 November, will discuss cultural heritage and opportunities in cross-border cooperation, whereas the second, taking place on 15 November, is to touch on cross-border cooperation during Slovenia's stint at the helm of the EU in the first half 2008.
Also to be found on the programme are a concert of established soloist, which is to take place in Nova Gorica on 9 November and a theatre show "Prophet Elijah", scheduled for 10 November in Ljubljana.
