Quality of Slovenian E-Administration Second in EU
Slovenian Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant said on Thursday that the results of a recent survey placed Slovenia second in e-public administration in the EU.
"Slovenia's results this year were very good, even better than we expected. While we ranked 15th three years ago and 7th last year...we tied for 2nd with Malta behind Austria," the minister said at the second day of a three-day meeting of EU public administration ministers in Lisbon.
The bloc's ministers meanwhile agreed that the countries should guarantee the highest possible level of e-services.
Virant also said he that on Friday he would present Slovenia's priorities in the field of e-administration during its stint at the helm of the EU. "Our priorities lie in eliminating red tape on the national and EU levels," he said.
The minister also pointed to interoperability and links between e-administration of various EU countries. "We are very underdeveloped here and this is what Slovenia plans to push forward."
Another Slovenian priority will be e-participation, meaning that citizens are given the possibility of taking part in drafting regulations on-line, Virant added.
