Chamber of Commerce Unfazed by Strong Euro

Ljubljana, 13 September

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) is not concerned about the rising euro, which hit a record of 1.3927 against the US dollar on Thursday. Some 70% of Slovenia's exports go to the EU, so the strong euro is welcome, the GZS told STA.

Exports in US dollars represent only a small proportion of total exports. What is more, there are only about 2,000 Slovenian companies active outside the EU and Western Balkans, and even they are not primarily dependent on dollar-denominated exports, the GZS said.
The GZS also believes that Slovenian companies which have a global presence are well aware of foreign exchange risks and have put in place strategies to manage such risks.
