Slovenian, Albanian Officials Discuss Slovenia's EU Presidency
EU Affairs State Secretary Janez Lenarcic met on Friday Albanian Minister for European Integration Majlinda Bregu and acquainted her with Slovenia's plans and priorities for its presidency over the EU in the first half of 2008.
According to a press release from the Government European Affairs Office, the officials also expressed interest in boosting cooperation between the countries in the area of European affairs.
Bregu presented Lenarcic with Albania's activities in the process of joining the EU, a part of which is the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between the EU and Albania, concluded in June 2006. Lenarcic meanwhile praised Tirana's efforts to join the bloc, pointing out the importance of internal reforms, which are key for a successful EU accession of the countries of the Western Balkans, the press release reads.
Bregu also met today the chair of the parliamentary EU Affairs Committee, Anton Kokalj, and Foreign Ministry State Secretary Andrej Ster, and visited the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) at Jable Castle near Ljubljana.
