Government Amends Law for Researcher-Hosting Agreements
The government adopted on Thursday amendments to the research and development act, bringing it in line with EU law by determining the procedure for the official authorization of research organisations that want to sign hosting agreements.
The remaining part of the relevant directive is already being implemented through the amended act on foreigners which regulates the admission and residence permits for third-country researchers and through the amended employment and work of aliens act. The employment and work of aliens act does not apply for third-country researchers who have signed a hosting agreement with a Slovenian research organisation and for those doing research in Slovenia for less than three month, while having residence permits in any other EU country, government spokesperson Valentin Hajdinjak told the press.
