PM Meets Macedonian Counterpart, Georgian President

Prime Minister Janez Jansa held bilateral meetings with his Macedonian opposite number Nikola Gruevski and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Sunday, Jansa's office said.

Jansa and Gruevski, meeting at the sidelines of the second annual conference of the Strategic Forum Bled, focused on the situation in the Western Balkans, especially the Kosovo issue. The pair agreed that relations between the countries were good. Macedonia appreciates Slovenia's help in its accession to the EU and NATO and Jansa promised that Slovenia would continue to help Macedonia. Gruevski also thanked the Slovenian government for help in fighting recent fires in Macedonia.
Jansa and Saakashvili meanwhile discussed the situation in Georgia and the region. Jansa said that Slovenia will pay special attention to the region during its stint at the helm of the EU in the first half of 2008.
The pair agreed that bilateral relations were good, however there was still a lot of unused potential.
