Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti presented on Monday bills on cultural heritage protection and on founding the Public Book Agency, adopted by the government on Thursday.
The cultural heritage bill, which is to replace the 1999 act, sets down an improved system of cultural heritage protection and provides the legal framework for a comprehensive preservation of heritage and utilisation of its development potential, Simoniti told the press in Ljubljana.
Among other novelties, the bill regulates all types of heritage and provides for systematic funding of museums established by municipalities, he said.
The Public Book Agency is meanwhile to regulate literary policies, which are now in the domain of the ministry and of the Public Research Agency, the minister added. The agency will take care of activities that the ministry cannot carry out, such as getting funds from outside the budget, Simoniti said.
