Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimtrij Rupel and his Cypriot counterpart Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis signed in Brussels on Monday a memorandum on cooperation between the two countries.
The pair agreed that cooperation was already excellent with Rupel noting that this would be especially important in the coming months ahead of Slovenia's EU presidency. Kozakou-Markulis, who took office last week, wished Slovenia a successful stint at the helm of the bloc. The memorandum, which entered into force with today's signing, envisages cooperation between high level officials from the Slovenian and Cypriot foreign ministries when necessary. Cooperation will also be strengthened among Slovenian and Cypriot diplomatic and consular offices in third countries, as well as the missions of both countries to the UN and other international organisations.
The two sides will consult each other on bilateral relations, regional issues concerning both countries, security and cooperation in Europe and the Mediterranean, matters related to the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, EU's Neighbourhood policy, and other issues related to the EU and its foreign and security policy.
