Swiss catering company Marche has baked a 400-metre-long strawberry cake in an attempt to make it to the Guinness Book of Records. The cake was sliced into 5,000 pieces and sold at 1 euro a piece in Ljubljana's Zvezda Park on Saturday.
Most of the cake will be taken to the Children's Hospital in Ljubljana, while the proceeds will go to an institute helping children with cancer and blood diseases.
The gigantic cake, with 1,000 kilos of strawberries and 500 kilos of dough, attracted a great number of people to Zvezda Park, including some celebrities.
The project was supported by Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Jankovic, who bought the first 20 pieces of the cake that took 48 hours to bake.
Also taking part in the project are Lions Klub Forum Ljubljana, the Ljubljana Tourist Board and several of Marche's suppliers and business partners.
