The Carmina Slovenica choir, led by conductor Karmina Silec, is to present in Ljubljana on 27 March its newest project "CS Light". The performance sees the world-famous choir focusing for the first time on minimalist music.
As Silec told the press in Maribor on Tuesday, "CS Light" offers a sublime selection of compositions from the rich world of modern minimalist music, notably by American composers such as Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, Morton Feldman, or composers from the Baltics or Scandinavia like Bronius Kutavicius, Thomas Jennefelt, Tellu Turkka in Karin Rehnquist.
The instrumental and vocal parts will also be accompanied by a dance performance by Tina Dobaj Eder, which is a first for Carmina Slovenica, Silec also pointed out.
According to Silec, "CS Light" addresses a variety of musical tastes and should satisfy fans of jazz, chamber and choral singing, as well as lovers of ethnic music.
After the premiere in Ljubljana's Cankarjev dom on 27 March, Carmina Slovenia is also to perform in front of its home audience in Maribor - the concert at the Maribor National Theatre is scheduled for 4 April.
