Drnovsek Tells Austrians He Is Against Second Reactor in Krsko
Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek told the Austrian public broadcaster ORF on Saturday that he was against the expansion of Slovenia's sole nuclear plant in Krsko. According to a report on Sunday by TV Slovenija, Drnovsek told ORF that there were enough nuclear plants in Europe and that he preferred "different, cleaner energy".
Drnovsek moreover said that the decision to build a second reactor in Krsko was not yet final.
Meanwhile in another interview for ORF in Klagenfurt, where Drnovsek is promoting his latest book, the president voiced optimism on Sunday that the new Austrian government would contribute to a swift resolution of the bilingual signs issue in Austria's province of Carinthia, TV Slovenija reported.
Drnovsek said that the bilingual signs were a test of Austria's maturity, above all its legal maturity.
He added that these questions should not be overblown as politicians like to use strong words that however rarely contribute to the resolving of problems.
