Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel met on Monday Mikhail Svidkoy, the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Culture and Cinema, to discuss cultural exchange between the countries and the work of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
At the meeting, Rupel assessed the cultural cooperation between Slovenia and Russia as very good, since the two countries have been exchanging numerous exhibitions, concerts and film festivals. "Enhancing cultural exchange with Russia is of a great importance for Slovenia," he said.
The Forum of Slavic Cultures is important for keeping ties among Slavic nations and strengthening of cultural exchange. "We are happy that all South Slavic countries joined the forum, while certain Central European countries have also shown interest in cooperation," said Rupel.
The aim of the forum, which was established in 2004 by Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Croatia, Macedonia, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Montenegro and Ukraine, is to enhance cultural cooperation among Slavic countries. (sta)
