The LJUCosinusBRX art gallery opened its doors in Brussels on Wednesday. Located in front of the office of European Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik, the gallery will showcase Slovenian projects that encompass art and science, Jurij Krpan of the Galerija Kapelica gallery told the press in Ljubljana.
Helena Drnovsek Zorko of the Foreign Ministry explained that the idea for such a gallery originated from Potocnik, the Slovenian representative in the Commission.
Its first exhibition centred around the famed Slovenian space travel theoretician Herman Potocnik Noordung (1892-1929).
The next exhibition is slated to open on 21 February, with artists Jurij Pavlica, Sendi Mango, Klemen Brun and Tom Kersevan, who make up the group BridA, presenting an analysis of the creative process from from basic information to the final product.
The "Modux 2004-2006" project will be followed by separate projects by Saso Sedlacek and Marko Peljhan.
While Sedlacek will present his recycling projects from April to May, Peljhan will showcase from September to December the Macrolab project, which uses home-made radio transmitters and satellite decoders to research the production and distribution of information.
