Gorenje to Open Boiler Factory in Serbia
Home appliance group Gorenje is to open a factory in Stara Pazova in northern Serbia in the beginning of February to produce electric water heaters. The new factory will contribute to bolstering the company's foothold in Southeast European markets, the company told STA on Friday.
Gorenje Tiki, a member of the Gorenje group, has a status of local manufacturer in Serbia. The company is to hire 155 workers in the first phase and then gradually increase the number according to production requirements. Its annual output will max out at half a million water heaters.
The Velenje-based company also expects to receive EUR 310,000 from the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency for the investment.
In October last year Gorenje opened a EUR 20m refrigerator-freezer factory in the city of Valjevo in the west of Serbia. The plant has a daily output of 840 refrigerator-freezer appliances and is aiming at production capacities of one million units per year by 2010.
