The exhibition "16th and 17th Century Italian Graphic Art", based on artworks from the collection of old masters of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU), is to open at the Cankarjev dom gallery on Tuesday.
The highlights of the show include prints by Andrea Mantegna, Marcantonio Raimondi, the Agostina brothers, Annibale Carracci, Rafaelo Guidi, Carlo Cesi and Giovanni Cesare Testi, Cankarjev dom said in a press release ahead of the show.
The exhibition, which is scheduled to run until 18 March, will also feature non-Italian masters who were influenced by the Italian school of graphic art.
The collection of old masters of the HAZU Cabinet of Prints is extremely valuable for the history of European graphic art. It is a collection of exceptional pieces which represent all phases of the development of graphics, the organiser said.
The exhibition is a result of cooperation between HAZU and Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAZU), as part of which the Cabinet of Prints in Zagreb exhibited the SAZU collection "Japanese Woodcuts" last year.
