Govt to Buy Embassy Building in Zagreb, Give 30,000 US$ to UNHCR

Ljubljana, 07 December

The cabinet decided on Thursday to purchase a building in the Croatian capital Zagreb to house the Slovenian embassy. It also agreed to donate US$ 30,000 to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Government PR and Media Office said.

The acquisition of the house is necessary as the current rented offices are inappropriate, aged and not representative enough. The rent and other expenses are too high and the location fails to meet security standards, the press release reads.
The new location was chosen by a Foreign Ministry commission, which said that the house is located in a respectable area, functionally appropriate and suitably priced.
The cabinet also decided to donate the US$ 30,000 for the activities of the UNHCR in the next year. The money will come from the Interior Ministry's budgetary item for migrants.
