Maribor, 23 November
Conductor Karmina Silec, who has won world acclaim with her Carmina Slovenia choir project, and Maribor-based band Kebataola are set to present a new project entitled Miracles. It involves the works of Estonian composer Arvo Paert and mediaeval music pieces.
As Silec explained to the press on Thursday, the Miracles project, to be presented for the first time in St. Rupert's church in Videm ob Savi in NE Slovenia on Saturday, focuses on historical but also present-time church music.
"Paert's music and the vocal pieces of the middle ages meet in the sense of their sound having a timeless, eternal, open effect. This sustained musical capacity, considering the gap of several centuries, reveals a close connection between different aesthetic criteria, but also leads to a conflict between them," Silec elaborated.
Kebataola is a band comprising experienced musicians who are active in various fields of music, including opera, choir music, world music and jazz.
Apart from Kebataola the project also features a number of other acclaimed artists. Performances are scheduled for Videm ob Savi, Ptuj (NE), Maribor (NE) and Celje (east).
