The presidents of coalition parties and the heads of deputy groups came out of a meeting with Prime Minister Janez Jansa on Wednesday confident that the coalition is successful, unified and in agreement two years after the general elections.
Joze Tanko, who heads the deputy group of the Slovenian Democrats (SDS), said that the coalition has been successful in the two years, having adopted documents that will boost economic development.
He said there were differences among the partners, but a lot of effort is being put into consensus and agreement. The coalition takes into account all the proposals of the members that are in line with the coalition agreement, Tanko said.
The president of New Slovenia (NSi), Andrej Bajuk, also said that the coalition was working successfully. Even though there are problems, the coalition has had fewer problems that its predecessors.
"Of course I have concerns and remarks, but these are things that get taken care of within the family," Bajuk added.
Similarly, People's Party (SLS) president Janez Podobnik said that the partners are cooperating well, "but there are still reserves, perhaps what is needed is more debate, coordination and the search for good solutions."
He said the SLS was a firm, dynamic and experienced link in the coalition chain.
Karl Erjavec, the president of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS), meanwhile said that the coalition partners sometimes refuse to back DeSUS proposals automatically, due to personal reasons.
Erjavec wants the coalition parties to talk more, that way disagreements could be ironed out sooner.
Podobnik as well as Erjavec stressed that the coalition has no weak links.
In addition to analysing the work of the past two years, the coalition leaders also discussed issues such as tax reform.
According to Bajuk, who is also finance minister, the parties agreed that the course set by the government is correct.
