Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina Strengthen Police Cooperation

Slovenian Interior Minister Dragutin Mate and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Minister of Security Barisa Colak signed an agreement on the return of illegal immigrants and a protocol on its implementation as they met in Ljubljana on Monday.

While Colak stressed that the accord is of utmost importance to Bosnia-Herzegovina, the pair announced future bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of organised crime prevention.
Mate told the press that Slovenia, like the EU in general, is striving to sign agreements of this sort with all countries. According to Mate, in doing so Bosnia-Herzegovina has demonstrated a will to approach the standards of the bloc.
Mate added that he and Colak also committed themselves to work towards shortly signing an agreement on police cooperation between the two countries.
The pair also touched on other issues, including organised crime prevention, terrorism, and the introduction of the euro in Slovenia in the light of security concerns.
Bosnia-Herzegovina's Minister of Security moreover raised the issue of his country moving towards a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU.
Colak stressed that the agreement was very important to Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially from the perspective of the visa system.
