The Slovenian Motorway Company (DARS) signed on Thursday a SIT 21bn (EUR 87.81m) contract on the construction of a motorway section between Beltinci and Lendava in NE Slovenia.
The deal, signed with a number of Slovenian construction companies, states that works on the 17.4-kilometre stretch of motorway should be completed 24 months after they have begun. The Beltinci-Lendava section is also included in the operational programme on the development of environmental infrastructure in the 2007-2013 period and was as such put forward for co-funding by the EU's cohesion fund. The deal means that contracts for almost 90% of the 82.3-kilometre motorway network in the NE have already been signed, DARS explained. The entire motorway network in the region, which is one of the poorest in Slovenia, is valued at SIT 175.3bn (EUR 733m) and should be completed by the end of 2008.
