The Slovenia Times publication and the Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments conferred on Thursday awards for this year's best foreign investors. The awards were presented to TCG Unitech LTH-ol, Ydria Motors, Sun Roller Adriatica and Epas, while the special reward went to Revoz, the organisers said.
The winners were selected from among 24 companies that received financial incentives from the state in 2000-2005. The jury believes that the awarded companies greatly contributed to Slovenia's development in the past year.
Foundry TCG Unitech Lth-ol is a part of the international corporation Trident Components Group from London with plants in Skofja Loka and Ljubljana. The plants employ 1053 workers, and the Slovenian Unitech also operates plants in Croatia and Macedonia.
Ydria Motors, wholly owned by Germany's mvl, for which it develops and produces electric motors and fans, is planning to produce 10 millions of products this year worth over EUR 40m. The company is expanding in the less developed SW Slovenian region of Notranjsko-Kraska.
Sun Roller Adriatica from Kanizarica near Crnomelj is wholly owned by Sun Roller group, a mobile homes, caravans and campers manufacturer from Spain. It employs 83 people and produces mobile homes.
Epas from Cresnjevci near Gornja Radgona is a partner of German fashion giant Escada, which has been present on the Slovenian market for almost 15 years. Epas, currently employing 250 people, is a proof that it is possible to be successful in the textile sector, even though the sector is facing huge problems due to the transfers of the production to the Far East.
Revoz is the only Slovenian car manufacturer and wholly owned by French Renault. The Novo mesto based factory exports 95% of its production to European markets. It is Slovenia's biggest exporter, currently carrying out the most important project in the factory's history - the development of a new Renault car. The project is worth approximately EUR 400m.
