Parliament Speaker France Cukjati has issued writs for local elections to be held on 22 October. According to the decree that Cukjati signed on Thursday, 3 August, preparations for the election of 210 mayors and almost 3,400 municipal councillors will kick off on 21 August.
Health Minister Andrej Brucan and Bojan Bokalic, director of medical equipment supplier Soca oprema, last week signed a contract on the supply of 18 operating tables for five Slovenian hospitals, ending a much-criticised public procurement procedure that dragged on for some two years. The urgently-needed operating tables should be completely installed by the end of October.
