Majority of Slovenians Support Economic, Social Reforms

A vast majority of Slovenians (80.5%) believe that social and economic reforms are necessary in the country, according to a July survey by the government-commissisoned Aragon polling agency.

According to the results, published on the website of Prime Minister Janez Jansa, the support for reforms has remained largely unchanged from April. A total of 10.1% of those polled stated their full support for the reforms, while 7.5% oppose them in their entirety.
Half of the respondents believed that the government is too slow in deciding on reforms, a further 25% believe that reform decisions are too quick, while a sixth have said that the government reform measures are being passed at just the right speed.
The poll also measured the preference of Slovenia's citizens for different parliamentary parties, putting the ruling Slovenian Democrats (SDS) on top with 22.5% of votes, followed by the opposition Liberal Democracy (LDS) with a 15.9% share and another opposition party, the Social Democrats (SD) with 9.3%.
They are followed by the coalition People's Party (SLS) with 7.6%, Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) with 5.9%, opposition National Party (SNS) with a 4.7% support, while the coalition New Slovenia (NSi) holds last position with 4.3%.
The survey included 913 respondents and was carried out between 4 and 6 July.
