PM Janša Regrets Failure of Bilingual Signs Deal

Prime Minister Janez Janša has voiced regret over the absence of a step forward in bilingual town signs for the Austrian province of Carinthia, after the Austrian parliament failed to muster the majority to implement the latest agreement on Friday.

This is a long-standing practice: much ado about nothing, followed by not even half a step forward, Janša said after a working lunch with senior members of the coalition parties on Friday. Since almost nothing has been done over the past 50 years, a change of strategy might be in order, he added
Janša said the initial moves in the new deal on bilingual signs were "steps in the right direction, but unfortunately they were not upgraded," as there was no consensus among the minority organisations or among the Austrian parliamentary parties.
