Slovenia Increases Contribution to the ITF

Ljubljana, 29 June

The Slovenian government has approved an increase in its contribution to the Slovenian-run International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) by SIT 42m (EUR 175,000) for this year, the Government PR and Media Office said in a press release.

Slovenia established the ITF in March 1998, whereby it began participating actively in post-conflict management in South-eastern Europe. Since then, the ITF has become one of the most useful and valuable projects to have been initiated by the Slovenian government. The fund operates with the help of annual donations from the government and financial assistance from the international community.
The ITF has been conducting mine clearance in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, and Macedonia, and also actively participating in demining activities in Serbia and Montenegro.
