The streets of Ljubljana have come alive with the 9th Ana Desetnica international street theatre festival, which aims to revive the old city centre and encourage informal gatherings of diverse audiences and artists.
This year's festival is host to no fewer than eighty events. The first major performance will be at 10 pm on Miklošičeva Street, where the French group Delit de façade will present their puppet show Put in Another Way ('Autrement dit'). Ana Desetnica will be entertaining Ljubljana until 2 July.
This year's special feature is the Playground and Culture Fair. On the first day of July, Zvezda Park will be turned into the Playground, which is primarily aimed at adults, and the Culture Fair, introducing the different cultural societies, groups and individuals which contribute to the multi-cultural face of Ljubljana, with dance, music, literature, culinary delights, will take place on Šuštarski most (Cobbler's Bridge) on the same day.
Ana Desetnica will not stay only in Ljubljana, but will later move to the Lent Festival in Maribor, and visit other towns in Slovenia.
