Slovenia Reaches 80% of Average EU GDP in 2005

Slovenia's gross domestic product measured at purchasing power parity reached 80% of the EU average in 2005, according to data released by Eurostat on Thursday.

Among the EU 2004 newcomers, only Cyprus managed to better Slovenia, as its per capita GDP stood at 83% of the EU25's average.
Luxembourg meanwhile remained in a class of its own with a GDP of 248% that of the EU's. It is followed by Ireland (137%), Denmark (124%) and the Netherlands and Austria, both with 123%.
Posting the lowest per capita GDP in the EU in 2005 were Latvia (47%), Poland (50%), Lithuania (52%) and Slovakia (55%).
