Drnovsek Awards Order of Merit to Ex-German Chancellor Kohl

Berlin, 02 June

President Janez Drnovsek presented former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl with a Slovenian Order of Merit, which was handed to Kohl by Slovenian MEP Alojz Peterle in Berlin on Friday.

Kohl, chancellor of Western and then the united Germany between 1982 and 1998, was awarded the top Slovenian order for his extraordinary efforts in international recognition of Slovenia. The merit was also presented to Kohl for his support in developing and strengthening relations between Slovenia and Germany.
