Celje, 25 May

Slovenia stages a Slovenian village at the Europa-park theme park in Rust near Freiburg, Germany, between 28 May and 6 June, Slovenian MEP Lojze Peterle told a press conference in Celje on Thursday.

Peterle estimates that the Slovenian show will be visited by around 200,000 people. The RTV Slovenija Orchestra will perform at a ceremony on the opening evening, which is expected to be attended by 220 VIPs from Germany, France and Switzerland.
Visitors will be offered Slovenian food and wines from the SE region of Bela Krajina. Slovenian bee-keepers have also said they will take part, while Slovenian artists will perform in the cultural programme.
Peterle is convinced that the event will be an important promotion for Slovenia coinciding with the 15th anniversary of its independence.
In future, a plot of land would be allocated for a permanent Slovenian display at the theme park, which is annually visited by about three million people.
