Telco Privatisation to Get Underway in 2007, Minister Says

Ljubljana, 24 April

Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak expects the first procedures in the privatisation of telco Telekom Slovenija to get underway at the beginning of 2007.

Speaking after a meeting with the management of Telekom Slovenija on Monday in Ljubljana, Vizjak said that the privatisation of the company was a priority.
"The strategy of the privatisation...is expected to be adopted in the near future. At the moment it is being harmonised among the ministries and the government parties...I hope it will be put on the government agenda for its session on 15 May," Vizjak added.
Meanwhile, Telekom Slovenija chairman Bojan Dremelj told the press that the board wants to see the company's shares listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange as soon as possible.
Dremelj believes that the state should consider listing the share on one of the big European stock exchanges.
